Hi Mike , I've been using CCC for a long time , with no problems , in MacBook , MacBook Pro , Mac Pro , iMacs , mini Macs , but yesterday , when I was trying to do the same procedure with a new MacBook Pro Retina , my external disk won't boot (I have a circle cut) . I tried partitioning the internal Hard drive , and installing , by cloning , the original partition , and it works fine , but when I cloned my backup over this paatition , I had again a circle cut . The new MacBook Pro Retina doesn't accept cloned disk ?

    Hi Marcelo:

I've heard of sporadic reports of bootability problems on the new MBP, but not enough to conclude that there is a general problem with it. Can you tell me more about your external enclosure? Also, can you submit your logs to me for review? The easiest way to do this is from within CCC:

    1. Choose "Report a problem" from the Help menu
    2. Click on the "Submit Logs" tab and review the information presented
    3. Click on the "Submit Logs" button
    4. Update this discussion to let us know that you've submitted your logs, and please note the submission ID at the bottom of the Submit Logs tab.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I've tried do boot with my external disc and with an internal partition that I have cloned , but both give the same result (an circle cut) . Note : I can boot all my other macs with this external disc , the only one that I can't is the new MBP Retina .

Whoa... That's a really old version of CCC, you really should get that updated. CCC 3.3.x isn't qualified on Lion at all, and there's a lot of functionality that won't work correctly. The bootability issue may very well be related to that.

Choose "Update CCC..." from the Carbon Copy Cloner menu and click the button to check for updates. If you would like to download CCC manually, you can download it here:

Did you upload your CCC.log? I'd like to verify that CCC did everything it was supposed to do. Please note the submission ID at the bottom of the Submit Logs tab.

    Thanks,
    Mike
