Creating 2 backups of the same hard drive.
I want to back up my main drive (MacPro) on to another internal
1TB drive as well as an external WD My Passport 1TB drive so I also
have a mobile copy of all my important files. I have a few
questions regarding this please.
1. Is this possible with CCC and how would I do it?
2. Would I need to purchase 2 copies of CCC?
3. Can I open files from the clone HD the same as I would with the
original. This is important regarding the external (mobile)
copy.
4. If it is possible to make 2 backups, can I configure my external
backup differently to the internal one. Basically I want internal
to be a complete clone (probably bootable) whereas the external
would just be my most important files - just music and Sibelius
scores for example.
CCC seems a better backup system than Time Machine as I'm not
fussed about retrieving deleted files etc. I just want a
continually updated backup of important files (music, photos,
videos, letters etc) that I can also open on my laptop as its hard
drive is getting quite full now.
Sorry this is a bit long-winded, but I'm just trying to find the
best was of doing this without fiddling around with multiple memory
pens etc.
With many thanks.

Allan,
Is this possible with CCC and how would I do it?
Creating two tasks one for each drive
Would I need to purchase 2 copies of CCC?
No, same computer, same license.
Can I open files from the clone HD the same as I would with the original. This is important regarding the external (mobile) copy.
Yes, files would look at they are on the source drive

Absolutely, your internal backup could be configured as a full backup. Then create a task (or multiple tasks) to copy certain folders or files to a folder.
Our online documentation is a good place to start for step by step instructions, and if you have any questions just let us know!
